Self-care in awareness work with Killa Schuetze

Refuge Worldwide in collaboration with Gravity Network are excited to offer this workshop at Revier Südost (RSO.Berlin) on Thursday, April 25th from 6pm to 8pm:

Self-care in awareness work with Killa Schuetze

Killa Schuetze (she/they) is a German-Peruvian cultural bridge builder based in Berlin and Frankfurt. She has a comprehensive understanding of the creative and music industries. She has many years of practical experience in the areas of awareness and security for internationally renowned clubs such as the Robert Johnson in Offenbach and most recently as Head of Awareness & Diversity and Head of Security for Tresor Berlin and Tresor West. Among other things, she was responsible for setting up awareness teams and structures, implementing de-escalating processes and handling conflicts.

Their workshop will explore how awareness work deeply affects us as individuals, often challenging our mental and emotional resilience due to its nature of dealing directly with complex and sensitive issues. The emotional labor involved can lead to stress and burnout, highlighting the crucial need for self-care and resilience among awareness workers. In this workshop, we will explore strategies of self-care and building resilience. It invites participants to exchange on methods that help keep a steady state of mind, even when things get tough. By talking things through and thinking about our experiences, we'll highlight best practices that help us to face difficult situations.
