SoundPreta's musical exploration is a storybook of urban racialised cultures—interconnected, in motion, and intertwined with the musicalities of gender and sexuality dissidents. It weaves embodied stories on the dance floor, told with a unique narrative style marked by heavy beats ranging from hard to deep. The approach draws from trap, grime, and drill, as well as variations of Brazilian Funk and electronic sounds like Miami bass and footwork.
This sonic journey began in 2016, back in Brazil, a place that continues to shape its primary musical influences. Since then, SoundPreta has crossed many borders, reaching dance floors, stages, parties, and performances in cities such as Porto, Lisbon, Berlin, Paris, and Ponta Delgada.
As a producer, SoundPreta curates Making Love, a party featuring R&B, neo-soul, and Lo-fi trap, and QUENGA, a Quyr, BIPOC, Urban celebration. The concept of QUENGA lies in the celebration of dissident bodies and urban cultural pluralities. It is BIPOC and Quyr, prioritizing these people, bodies, and connections. And it is urban, rooted in the street, the night, and its trends.
SoundPreta is also a response to the underrepresentation of Black DJs and producers in the Portuguese music scene.
