Prosumer

Prosumer is old school. His love and allegiances for everything raw and instinctive is well documented, be it his monthly NTS show or his sets on dance floors around the globe. He‘s drawn to the records that are born out of the joy of people having found a way to express their voice, even before having processed the mechanics of it. There is often a raw directness to Prosumer‘s sound that he has described before as "like humping your leg“. In his books, it is all about our natural responses to music, and in the club that means: "dance your heart out". His affinity for music was clear from an early age and ‘DJ’ was on the list of childhood dream jobs. Inspired by music shows on TV, a favourite game as a kid was ‘disco’, building light effects and playing music in his parent‘s basement. The local branch of famed Hard Wax record shop was a home for Prosumer‘s teenage dreams and a bountiful classroom. Gigs at bars and clubs, and a show on public access radio became the first places for him to share music. With over 25 years of DJing, working for Hard Wax, being one of the original residents of Berghain‘s Panorama Bar, recording for the likes of Running Back, Fabric and Ostgut Ton, being a fixture at Glastonbury‘s NYC Downlow and many other amazing clubs around them world, Prosumer‘s biggest thrill has remained the same: "I am just excited that I get to share music that I care about“. It is this excitement and care that make his sets intimate and special, bringing the wonder he experienced while “playing disco’ in his parent‘s basement to a dance floor near you.
