marius is a selector who puts together dream-like atmospheres in non-linear mixes which take form, disintegrate, and reassemble. Interested in understanding the human experience and context behind sound he takes a curious approach to digging into musical lineages from jazz, dub reggae, or punk and their many offshoots. He is drawn towards ambiguous sound textures that are rough around the edges and flow through feelings and ambiances: hazy mists, gentle summer breezes or hard-hitting thunderstorms, from floaty to bass heavy, for and from the soul. As a sound artist, marius explores the connection between space, sound, and community. His recent work has focused on the proposed A100 highway development in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the area he calls home, which threatens to close numerous clubs and cultural spaces. Earlier this year, he choreographed a soundwalk near Ostkreuz station, using sound as a lens to draw attention to the ways our city is transforming. Through his practice, Marius aims to foster awareness and connection, using sound to amplify the stories of spaces and the communities within them.
