Based in New York since 2016, Ezra Miller is a multi-talented digital artist. Self-taught as a programmer and image-maker, his interest in using cutting-edge graphics programming techniques unifies his practice. A deep engagement with painting, photography, and art history inform his approach to creating infinite, real-time generative artworks with complex feedback networks of shaders.
With notable ties to the fashion industry and electronic music world, Miller has worked on a number of high-profile runway shows, in-store installations, and digital campaigns for luxury brands such as Balenciaga, Maison Margiela, and Burberry, as well as live audio-visual performances with musicians, album covers, websites, and music videos for artists such as Nick Leon, Yves Tumor, Caroline Polachek, Objekt, and Oneohtrix Point Never.
His latest body of work, "Plastic Pulse" published by Area Books, features his own photographic output over the past decade processed with custom developed diffusion techniques to synthesize images that challenge the distinctions between the real and the generated, figuration and abstraction, while investigating the complexities of mnemonic depiction.
His work has been commissioned by Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Hyundai ArtLab, and Schinkel Pavillon, and shown in group shows at galleries such as Nahmad Contemporary, Imperial Gallery, and Mana Contemporary. His NFT Series "Solvency" and "Silk Road" were recently featured in Taschen's 2024 publication "On NFTs," and his work has appeared in publications such as Fact Magazine, Whitewall, and Dazed Magazine.
