Adrasha

Adrasha is an Ethiopian multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. Her journey began as a dancer and performer in Addis Ababa, where she was immersed in East African traditional sounds. Faced with a lack of East African musical spaces in Spain - Adrasha transitioned to curating and blending ancestral East African music with contemporary electronic sounds, experimenting with genres like Ethio Jazz, Singeli and Gqom. Her work revolves around the fusion of tradition and innovation, culture and politics, as she seeks to foster cross-cultural understanding and contribute to contemporary global dialogues. With a degree in International Relations, Adrasha's focus lies in exploring the intersection of culture and political structures and firmly believes culture can legitimize and stabilize political systems, viewing art as a form of political resistance. In 2024 she played in Addis Ababa, Milan, Brussels and Paris. She’s been a regular at Jokkoo Collective events in Barcelona, and made her Primavera Sound BCN debut on the Boiler Room stage. Adrasha hosts a bi-monthly show called ‘No Address’ on Oroko Radio and has had guest mixes on Rinse FM, Radio Raheem and Radio Alhara.
