Mau Rākau Workshop

Haka is a tradition held and celebrated by the Indigenous people of Aotearoa New Zealand, and recognised around the world. Mau Rākau is a form of traditional Māori stick fighting.

The workshop will be taught by Taimana. Taimana comes from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and hails from the tribes in the North; Ngati Hine, Te Rarawa, Nga Puhi. Taimana is on a path of reconnecting with his culture, and training and sharing these art forms is part of his journey

Blending indigenous movement with martial arts, Taimana will teach a unique workshop that inspires self-empowerment, and ignities that fire in the body. No experience required, people of all backgrounds and ages are welcome!

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bring your own rākau (stick). See header image here. (The height should be between your waist and chin - it could also just be a broomstick or whatever you have at home, ideally without the head of the broomstick though).

• Excercise clothes.

• Water bottle.
