Sauti ya àkókò (sauti ya [swahili]: the sounds of / àkókò [yorùbá]: dimensions), a show on ancestral and astral poetic historicities in timeless sounds from African, Caribbean and diasporic corners of the world. The concept of time in Yorùbá philosophy is a vast complexity. Sauti ya àkókò envisions possible re-inventions of a complex self in a complex time with mesmerizing records and testimonies fusing the definition of past and present. For Regenerate Festival, mokeyanju will present a vinyl & poetry special showcase reflecting on the liminality of past, present and future interactions with self.
